How to measure blinds for your windows

There are generally two types of blinds configurations, those that fit inside the window frame – called recessed size blinds, and those that are mounted oustide and above the window frame known as blind size blinds (exact).

Here, we show you how to take the correct measurements to ensure you order the right size for your windows.

  1. Measure the distance from left to right to the specified width you require (measurement A).
  2. Then take one vertical measurement from top to bottom to the specified drop you require (measurements B).

  1. Measure the distance from left to right at 3 points of the window glass pane (measurements A at Top, Middle and Bottom). Use the shortest measurement of the three as your width size (measurements A).
  2. Then measure the height of the glass (measurements B and C). If the measurements differ slightly then use the smaller measurement as your drop size.

  1. For recessed Venetian blinds (wooden or otherwise), Roman or Pleated blinds, measure the distance from left to right at 3 points of the window reveal (measurements A at Top, Middle and Bottom). Use the shortest measurement of the three as your width size (measurements A).
  2. Then measure the distance between the window cill and the head of the window reveal (measurements B and C). If the measurements differ slightly then use the smaller measurement as your drop size.

  1. Measure the distance from left to right to the specified width you require (measurement A).
  2. Then take two vertical measurements from top to bottom to the specified drop you require (measurements B and C).

  1. Take one horizontal measurement of the top of the window frame, ensuring that your tape measure is at the top of the reveal.
  2. Then take two vertical measurements between the window cill and the head of the window reveal. If the measurements differ slightly then use the smaller measurement.

  2. Then measure the distance between the window cill and the head of the window reveal at the centre of the window (measurement B).
